Home Automation -- For More Information, see "The Dyer Guides To:"

At Dyer Electronics we have designed, installed and we maintain many home automation systems. We generally custom design each one, taking into account many different factors.

Our approach to each project is to custom-tailor each system to be life enhancing to each client, and to create a system that best suits their lifestyle. By combining different systems in the home such as Lighting, Security, Audio and Video, Whole House Audio, Heating and Air Conditioning, we can create a whole world of possibilities.

For instance, you come home after a long day and as you drive up the driveway the garage door opens for your car, the lights from the garage to the kitchen come on, and music comes on to your favorite station. This is not science fiction. We do this type of work everyday.

You can see that the possibilities are indeed endless. When you group together five or ten subsystems, each with upwards of fifty controls and modes, then multiply the possibilities together -- the possibilities for good and bad are endless.

Programmed incorrectly or setup wrong, a Home Automation system can be a terror. Programmed correctly and with careful attention to detail at each step along the way, the system can be a blessing.

Simple, intuitive and logical should be the goals. Not gadgets upon gadgets. Do what makes sense and take control. This, more than any other reason should be why you enlist the aid of a professional such as Dyer Electronics.

Professional have been around the block more than once. They know what is available and they can guide you through the dark forest of electronics gizmos and gadgets and send you to the "meadow of electronic harmony."

A good integrator should be willing to educate you, share their experience with you and most of all, there to take care of you down the road.

Dyer Electronics has been in this business and in this community for over 20 years, and we intend on being around to service your Home Automation System for another twenty.

This installation took place over a period of a year. The client had us install a full home automation system with 11 zones of Heating / Air conditioning control, 32 zones of audio in and outside, two different surround zones, a full blown theater and a full complement of cameras in and around the property.

All this had to be tied together neatly and conveniently in order for anyone to use it easily. To accomplish this, we installed a P.H.A.S.T. home automation system from AMX Corporation. This system allowed for an amazing degree of control from on wall keypad, logic events, timed events, and wireless controllers.

The client enjoys this system so much that we have had to keep working on it. He keeps coming up with ideas to add more.

Here is a picture of the Theater Equipment rack. As you can see, the Theater had its own equipment to deal with in addition to the whole house.

In the end, the client could watch a movie with ease as well as pipe in music and video from all over the house.

Speakers throughout the house offered music from a variety of sources, including a Digital Jukebox from Arrakis, Satellite Music, AM and FM and a 200 Disc CD player.

All of this would be easily selected either for the whole house or just that room on wall mounted keypads in key areas throughout the home.

These keypads allowed for a great deal of control for the client while at the same time allowing for everything to be in plain English. The client could check his caller ID, control the CD players, set the temperature in any of the 11 zones and set whole house modes such as "Party" or "Vacation" and let the system do the rest.

By installing two smaller televisions in the study, the client could watch the stock report on one while the other toggled through the cameras on the property.

We also provided the client with all his networking services, setting up each computer in the home with full high speed Internet access and printer and file sharing.

This 32" television was built in to be easily seen from the Jacuzzi tub in the Master Bathroom. By using a P.H.A.S.T. remote we were able to allow the customer to access any of the houses video sources with ease as well as control the overhead speakers and whole house CD jukebox all from the tub.

The house had a lot of opportunities for outside entertainment. Set on Lake Travis, it had many picture perfect views.

To help create the perfect atmosphere, we installed rock speakers in both the front and back of the house. Then we setup easy-to-use outside entertaining audio scenes with play lists.

This way, the client could go to any keypad pick the "Outside Entertaining" scene from the menu and instantly have preprogrammed music at both the front and back of the house.

In addition to rock speakers we also installed wall mounted outdoor speakers for the patio and barbeque area as well as the clients private patio on the other side of the house.

In the client's Gameroom we installed a 42" Plasma Television screen from Runco. This room, when controlled by the P.H.A.S.T. remote (in the room of any of the local keypads), had complete access to all the house's camera, video and audio sources.

You could play pool, listen to music, play games or just watch TV. We put you, the customer, in total control.

In this house we touched just about every system from the 125 light circuits we control, to the 32 pairs of speakers, all the way to the full home theater.

We made this easy. The client loved it and is still asking us to add more constantly.

In the hands of a professional, Home Automation can be a powerful tool; in the hands of a novice it can be a painful experience in misused technology.

As you can see, we can design and install just about any home automation application you wish to dream up.

Let Dyer Electronics take care of your Home Automation needs. We have the knowledge, the commitment and most of all the experience to make it all work for you.
