Theaters

This Theater was our very first large scale tiered seating theater. The room layout, although nice, was not optimal for a Theater but it was all we were allowed to work with, as we were called in after the initial framing.
The initial design decisions centered around how many people it should seat and how to best orient the room. In the end, due to the window placement, we oriented the room along the long axis locating the screen on the long wall.
This is a bit unusual for a theater, but due the windows and door access, we had no choice.
From that point on we laid out the riser and seating. The riser is a full 18" for a complete and total view of the screen. The seats are provided by Irwin Theater seating and actually bolt to the riser.
In order to complete this rooms' transformation into a full-blown Theater, the client had decorative lighting columns installed, and a newspaper and cellulose based wall treatment put in. We then bolted in the seats and held on tight. One final touch was to have automatic "Hurricane" Shutters installed on the three main windows to completely block out all the light.
In the end the client was happy, the room sounded great and we learned a lot.
