A design challenge in any theater is where to put the projector. This can
be a real problem since it is very critical to achieving the perfect image.
In this room we decided early on to install a DLP projector
from Runco and to locate it in the fur down above the bar at the back of
the room. This keeps the noise down from the fan on the projector and looks
really slick.
As the installer, you do have to take into account the
space you are installing the projector into. If it gets too hot you could
have a real problem on your hands. In this install we luckily had enough
open air space around the unit so we did not have to cool it from the air
conditioning, but in other projects we have had to do that. Under those
circumstances, it is crucial to remember the air also has to be vented off
the projector, as well as getting cool air in.
We also built the custom panel to cover the projector
(except for the lens on both sides of the fur down). That way we had access
to the back of the unit as well. |
