As you can see, we designed the touch-panel around the theme of
the room. We wanted the user interface to be easy to use, but also fun.
To accomplish this, we used a P.H.A.S.T. CV10 touch-panel. This 10.4"
touch-panel was connected to a card-frame, which not only controlled
all the theater had to offer, but also allowed for complete whole house
control and status feedback.
The end user could sit in the Theater and turn on
and off all the lights in the house, look at the front patio via his
camera out there, and control audio throughout the house as well. The
touch-panel also doubled as a television. In this way, he could have
"picture outside a picture" and watch two things at once -
or see the camera picture at the front door automatically when the doorbell
rang without disturbing his movie. He loved it.
We even had his doorbell play "The Eyes of Texas"
by the UT band, inside and outside.
Now that's team spirit.
